Students Demonstrate Entrepreneurship Skills at Vanguard Classical East’s First Credit Recovery Camp

June 20, 2025

In June, ten high school students from Vanguard Classical School East took a bold step toward shaping their futures during the first-ever Entrepreneurship Credit Recovery Camp, led by our Community and Career Connected Learning team.

Throughout the week, students explored the foundations of entrepreneurship, crafted business plans, and pitched their ideas to a panel of judges. Many built on their families’ entrepreneurial legacies, bringing personal passion to their work.

The program featured a keynote from Karen Jaramillo, Educational Equity Advocate & MSU Chicano/a Studies Lecturer, and immersive field experiences with Field Academy, giving students a first-hand look at what it takes to run a successful business. Even Denver Nuggets player Spencer Keith Jones joined as a volunteer judge and left deeply moved.

“I just want to thank GSN because at first... I only was willing to attend so I could get my credits but now that I’ve done this whole business plan, it makes me want to try to start the business.”
— DeShawn, 1st place winner, aspiring mechanic and entrepreneur
